Why do we wear the same thing again and again?

Have you noticed that day to day your hand tends to reach for the same clothes?

The same comfy trousers, the usual jumper, a favourite shirt... And so it goes, day after day.

Not because we wouldn't like to look different. It's just that in the morning there's often neither the time nor the desire to experiment. We choose what we're sure of.

And you know what? There's nothing wrong with that! But sometimes it's our habits that stop us seeing how many possibilities our wardrobe really holds.

Today I'd like to suggest a little experiment.

  1. 1

Choose one of your favourite pieces.

It could be the trousers, skirt or shirt you wear most often. Try combining it with something you've never worn it with before.

  2. 2

    Change just one detail.

Instead of your usual trainers, choose ankle boots, add a belt, swap your bag or put on a blazer. Small changes like these often give a familiar outfit a completely different mood.

  3. 3

    Photograph the combinations that work.

When you manage to put together an outfit you feel good in, take a photo of it! Over time your phone will become your personal style cheat sheet, saving you time on rushed mornings.

My little challenge for you: this weekend, create three new outfits from clothes you already have in your wardrobe. No shopping!

Do you already know your style?
